After your septic tank is emptied, the waste is transported by the service provider to a licensed treatment facility. At the facility, the waste undergoes a treatment process that separates solid waste from the liquid effluent. The treated water is then safely discharged, often into local watercourses, while the solid waste, known as sludge, is further treated and disposed of, often as fertiliser or in landfills, depending on its composition. This process ensures that waste is handled in an environmentally responsible manner, preventing contamination and protecting public health.
